Reflecting On My Current Relationship With Media

I engage with media in my day to day life in many different ways and this has an effect on me, as well as the other people that are exposed to the same types of things. Mainly I am exposed to media when I watch T.V. and surf the internet, seeing and hearing countless ads and commercials with subtle messages embedded in them. Another big source of media in my life is listening to music and the radio where there are constant ads but also the music itself serves as a huge influence on everyone including myself. This is the same with T.V. in that the programs I watch also contain many different messages about things from society, to politics, to products, and much more. I believe that these forms of media that I am exposed to (not always intentionally), do things such as enforce stereotypes, establish political opinions, and create perceptions of certain products and companies. Overall, I engage with many types of media (more than just the ones I listed), and these sources provide subtle as well as explicit messages that have a great effect on me and the way I think.
